In september 2026, I joined Tirana Bicycle Culture Residency, which was hosted by the NGO Active Mobility Albania and funded by Culture Moves Europe.
Over the course of a month in Tirana, I shared five bike rides with five different women, each accompanied by a short interview about what cycling means to them in their daily lives.
From these encounters, I selected a series of landmark sites across the city, and painted them in watercolor as shifting backdrops. Across these urban landscapes, animated figures of Tirana’s female cyclists pass through, tracing their everyday routes through familiar places.
The soundtrack weaves together fragments of the interviews, voices describing what it feels like to move through the city on two wheels : the freedom, the independence, the quiet moments of presence it offers.
This project is an attempt to make these women more visible, and to share what moves them ; so that more women might find their place within Tirana’s cycling community.
